1In accordance with ISO 10555-3, both lumens of each device were flow tested using 20°C purified water with a head height of 1,000 mm.

Important Information

  • All lumens should be preflushed (before insertion) with provided saline-filled syringes.
  • Follow standard hospital protocol for flushing, dressing changes, cap changes, etc.
  • Hydrophilic coating on Cook Spectrum will activate upon insertion into vessel. Catheter may be dipped in saline prior to insertion to activate the coating, if desired.
  • Do not rub outside of catheter with alcohol prior to insertion, as this may decrease the efficacy of the antimicrobials.
  • Blood work should be done through the #1 distal lumen. These lumens are larger and have greater flow rates.
  • When withdrawing blood samples from the distal lumen, infusions should be temporarily stopped and ports clamped on the middle and proximal ports to avoid contamination of withdrawn blood.
  • Do not use on patients with known allergy/sensitivity to rifampin or minocycline.
  • If using 9 Fr catheter, 10 Fr catheter or Minipuncture, be sure to remove inner cannula after insertion.
  • Now FDA cleared for power injection in 7, 8, 9 and 10 Fr power-injectable CVCs only. Power inject contrast media through the distal lumen only.
