Cook Medical Expands Asia-Pacific Distribution Centre in China to Meet Regional Surge in Growth of Medical Device Market
June 27, 2011
Shanghai, China – June 27, 2011 – Cook Medical, one of the world’s leading developers of health care devices, is expanding the company’s first Asia-Pacific Distribution Centre (APDC) to meet the growing demand for medical equipment throughout the region, company officials report.
Cook Medical demonstrated its commitment to China with the opening of the APDC in Shanghai at the start of 2010. Since its establishment, the warehouse has been the initial point of distribution in China for all Cook Medical products, providing speedy delivery for the benefit of the country’s physicians and patients. With the APDC’s recent revamp and expansion, Cook products can now be delivered to markets across the region, including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
“The upgrade of our Asia-Pacific Distribution Centre means Cook Medical can provide better customer service and faster dispatch of minimally invasive medical device equipment. It follows the escalating demand for advanced equipment designed for minimally invasive procedures and reflects the recent exponential growth of the medical device market in Asia,” commented Cook Medical Asia Pacific Vice President Barry Thomas.
Since opening, the APDC has doubled in capacity to 3,500 square meters and supports many cutting-edge features, including an internationally certified cooler room, specifically designed for preserving in vitro fertilization (IVF) culture products, and an advanced new closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance system.
The high-tech facility serves as Asia’s central distribution centre to support Cook Medical’s Aortic Intervention, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, Peripheral Intervention, Surgery, Urology and Women’s Health business units.
