Benefits of online ordering

Are you familiar with the ways in which you can place an order with Cook Medical? Electronic data interchange (EDI), online ordering, email, phone, or fax are the most common ways to place an order with Cook Medical. We’ve found one method that customers are often unfamiliar with is our Cook Medical online ordering system.

Cook Medical’s online ordering site is a web-based system for ordering Cook Medical products in the United States and Canada. The system is available to all customers at no charge 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We decided to get more information from Joyce, customer support with Cook Medical. Joyce has 37 years of experience with Cook and is the online ordering administrator.

“Those who use our online ordering system say it is quick and easy. Customers tend to like the convenience of online ordering best. They can place an order on their own schedule and don’t have to work around our business hours or wait on the phone.”

Our Cook online ordering system is different than other forms of electronic ordering such as GHX and EDI. Through our Cook online ordering system, all you need is a web browser and an internet connection because you are simply ordering straight from Cook, similar to calling Cook directly.

Typically, online ordering works well for customers such as ambulatory care centers, physician offices, and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMC). You may find it to be more efficient and effective when ordering products especially if you do not have an internal ordering system. “It’s helpful as several people from one facility can have their own log-ins. You can also have more than one facility and shipping location listed in an account,” says Joyce.

When compared to calling, faxing, or emailing orders, online ordering tends to be more efficient, more convenient, and less costly. These are some of the benefits of online ordering:

As you can see in this chart, there are many different ways customers are ordering Cook Medical products. The most common ordering method in the US is through EDI. Our online ordering system is comparable to EDI.

For customers who are not currently using online ordering and are seeking to be more efficient, sign up online at As Joyce explains, “It takes less than ten minutes from the initial request to have our customer ready to order online. It is a faster and more efficient way to order from Cook.” For step-by-step instructions on how to sign up and navigate the system, click here.
