Sometimes it’s nice to have options, especially when it comes to providing the best care for patients, each with their own needs and challenges. For vascular access, part of that care means being able to have the right PICC for any treatment and every patient.
The physicians and facilities of Premier, the US’s 2nd largest group purchasing organization (GPO), will now have more choices when it comes to vascular access products, thanks to a new contract agreement which includes Cook Medical.
Starting July 1, 2014, Premier members will gain access to special pricing on Cook’s full line of PICCs, including silicone and power-injectable polyurethane options featuring Cook Spectrum technology. Proven to help prevent catheter-related bloodstream infections, Spectrum technology helps to save lives and reduce healthcare costs.
“We believe that Spectrum technology is where our products stand out above the rest,” Cook corporate account manager, Ken Calabrese said.
Spectrum PICCs are the only PICCs on the market with a CDC 1A recommendation for preventing catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI), making it an important option for facilities that haven’t been able to meet their goals using sterile process alone.
“Having a GPO contract for PICCs takes away one more roadblock between product and patient,” Calabrese said. “Better patient experiences and outcomes are what we strive for everyday. In my mind, it’s a win-win situation for everyone.”
