Liver access for TIPS: Which course is right for you?

Dr. Training, TIPSS Training, Wet Lab, Animal Lab, shot in Indianapolis, Shot in 2012, IR,This year, Cook Vista® is offering several different courses in which Cook’s liver access sets are the focal point. Both the Rösch-Uchida Transjugular Liver Access Set (RUPS) and the Ring Transjugular Intrahepatic Access Set (Ring) are used for transjugular liver access in diagnostic and interventional procedures.

If you are already using the RUPS and would like to enhance your understanding of the set and increase your proficiency in shunt creation, enroll in Liver Access Techniques for TIPS Creation, taught in April and repeated in November by Dr. Matthew Johnson, IR. This course includes a didactic case presentation, a hands-on animal lab, and a human case observation. This course is set at an intermediate level of difficulty and is hosted in Indianapolis, IN. Enroll in Liver Access Techniques for TIPS Creation, taught by Dr. Kei Yamada, IR, and Dr. Stephen Citron, IR. This intermediate-level course focuses on the RUPS and the RING sets. Discover Liver Access Techniques for TIPS Creation and Associated Embolization Procedures, taught in July and repeated in December by Dr. Stephen Kee, IR and Dr. Edward Lee, IR. In this advanced-level course, hosted in Los Angeles, CA, you will use the RUPS in a mock TIPS procedure and use Cook coils to embolize gastric veins in an animal lab.
