New workhorse wire guide in US and Canada provides physicians with resilient tip technology

Bloomington, Ind. – Cook Medical today announced that the Approach Authority™ Workhorse Microwire Guide is now commercially available in the United States and Canada.

Designed as an 0.018-inch diameter workhorse wire guide, Approach Authority can be used for multiple purposes in the same procedure. In a situation where a physician might traditionally use several different wire guides, physicians can now use this single wire guide to provide both support and finesse during a procedure.

Approach Authority combines resilient nitinol tip technology with a hydrophilic coating. This unique design offers another option to physicians placing balloon dilatation catheters during percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) in peripheral arteries. Physicians can deliver a variety of devices across this wire to offer a broader range of treatment options for patients.

“Cook Medical is proud to introduce this wire to our customers in the United States and Canada. Wire guides have been used in interventions for decades, and we’re still innovating,” said Mark Breedlove, vice president of Cook Medical’s Vascular division.
