The role of nutrition in any treatment is important for favorable patient outcomes. There are many reasons you might need a feeding tube, including emergency care, temporary conditions, as a result of cancer treatment, or long-term care. Feeding tubes can give you nutrition when you are unable to eat or swallow. If you are unable to receive enteral nutrition through a feeding tube, parenteral nutrition—nutrition received through your veins—may also be an option.
