Cook Medical’s Winston-Salem manufacturing facility receives ISO 14001 Certification

Winston-Salem, N.C. — Cook Medical has always been committed to improving people’s lives. That promise spans from patient care to the communities in which the company operates and beyond. Today Cook Medical’s Winston-Salem manufacturing facility announced that they have recently received an IS0 14001 certification, the global standard for environmental management system practices.

The ISO 14001 standard is a voluntary commitment that Cook made to help establish an effective environmental management system that can identify, manage, and track all efforts pertaining to their environmental impact, meaning they will be able to better measure their carbon footprint and implement processes that will aim to help reduce wastes, water usage and electricity usage. As part of the certification process, the Cook Medical Winston-Salem facility identified all existing environmental efforts and identified objectives for the next several years. IS0 14001 accreditation also requires annual audits from an internationally recognized third party to measure progress against the promised environmental goals.

“Being a good corporate citizen has always been a focus for us at Cook, and our environmental impact is a huge component of that” says Tamisha Clark, vice president and general manager of Cook Medical’s Winston-Salem facility. “We’re committed to continually improving our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and making greener choices. We hope to inspire other companies to achieve their certification. Together, we can make an even greater impact in our communities.”

Cook Medical’s Winston-Salem facility is the third location to receive the certification, following their Denmark and Ireland locations. The company notes that they plan to expand on these efforts over the coming years, aiming to achieve ISO 14001 certification for all their manufacturing facilities globally.
